Short Road Pizza: Real People, Real Reactions & Serious Slices

Let’s be honest, nothing brings people together quite like incredible pizza. But when it comes to commercial restaurant campaigns, showing delicious food on a plate is only half the fun. The real magic happens when you capture the genuine joy of people actually enjoying it!

For the Short Road Pizza project in London, we wanted to break away from overly posed talent. Instead, we brought in real customers right off the street to sit down, grab a slice, and give us their completely authentic, unscripted reactions.

As a commercial food photographer and creative director, my mission was to blend that spontaneous, messy energy with polished, high-end production values. We paired candid smiles and epic cheese pulls with rich, directional lighting that highlighted every crisp crust, bubbling sauce, and vibrant topping. To round out the brand's visual identity, we also captured environmental portraits of the team behind the counter, giving the business an inviting, relatable human face in a crowded London food market.

Working on-location at Short Road Pizza in London, I led the creative direction, photography, and retouching to build a versatile library of assets designed to perform across digital ads, social campaigns, and print.

What’s Your Take on Real vs. Staged Imagery?
