FORCED RHUBARB FOR NATOORA
Natoora commissioned me to create a photographic story exploring the unique world of Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb, a heritage crop grown in total darkness and harvested by candlelight. My brief was to elevate this seasonal tradition through bold, atmospheric imagery that could serve both editorial and commercial needs.
Working inside the forcing sheds, I focused on crafting a visual language that blended authenticity with refined aesthetics: dramatic low-light scenes, vivid textures of the rhubarb stalks, and intimate portraits of the growers at work. The aim was to highlight the craftsmanship, labour and rarity behind a product that reaches high-end kitchens worldwide.
The final collection provided Natoora with a suite of striking assets for campaigns, product storytelling and social media. Imagery that positions forced rhubarb not simply as produce, but as a premium, craft-driven ingredient rooted in history and human skill.
